The Society is open by admission to young people aged 15–19 on the first day of the programme. The first step is a short initial application.

2027 PROGRAMME DATES

The next ten days.

Each programme is 10 days / 9 nights for eighteen members, subject to final confirmation. Families should check the dates against their own school calendar; the published dates do not indicate remaining places.

WHO IT IS FOR

Curious about life together.

For young people aged 15–19 on the first day of the programme. Each cohort is structured as six China-based members and twelve international members, forming six teams of one China-based and two international members. A willingness to share daily life, communicate in English and get to know people with different experiences matters more than prior golf experience.

Who completes the application

For ages 15–17, a parent or legal guardian manages the application; the applicant writes their own responses. Applicants aged 18–19 apply directly and provide another person as their emergency contact.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

  • Required: names, date of birth, usual residence, citizenship, school and expected graduation year. Have the responsible person's email, phone and at least one WhatsApp or WeChat contact ready, plus the emergency contact's email, phone and a contact channel.
  • Required: your own personal statement (250–400 words), and short responses about your interests, shared life, languages, golf level and collaborative ideas.
  • Choose one: a one-page PDF résumé (up to 3 MB), or an Activity Profile written in the application (20–250 words).
  • You will also choose a billing currency, whether to request Fellowship consideration and your photography preferences, and complete the relevant declarations.

Optional: a personal photo (JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 5 MB). No video is required. Detailed health, medication and insurance information is collected through the secure pre-arrival flow after confirmation.

HOW ADMISSION WORKS

A first introduction.

The application introduces the young person — their interests, experiences, ideas and the life they might bring to the cohort.

Thoughtful, human review.

Each application is reviewed individually by the admissions team, including the applicant's own writing, activities and interests. Applications are considered on a rolling basis, with decisions generally made within approximately one month. No interview is required.

A place is confirmed.

Admission alone does not reserve a place. After an offer is made, full payment is due within seven calendar days. A place is confirmed once cleared funds are verified, or a Jade Banyan Fellowship is accepted.

Families may choose either billing currency; the choice is not determined by nationality or residence.

INCLUSIONS & AIRPORT TRANSFERS

The fee includes accommodation, meals, programme activities, programme transport and standard arrival and departure transfers at Sanya Phoenix International Airport during the published transfer window. International or domestic airfare to Sanya is not included.

Standard transfers are designed around flights scheduled to arrive and depart between 10:00 and 18:00 local time on the relevant programme dates. Travel outside this window requires advance review and cannot be guaranteed.

CANCELLATION OVERVIEW

MORE THAN 30 DAYS BEFORE COMMENCEMENT
Programme fee refunded less a fixed cancellation charge: US$1,000 for USD bookings or RMB 7,000 for RMB bookings. The deduction cannot exceed the programme fee paid.
30 DAYS OR FEWER BEFORE COMMENCEMENT
50% of programme fees paid refunded.
AFTER PROGRAMME COMMENCEMENT
Generally no refund, subject to company cancellation or failure to provide agreed core services, unperformed services following early departure for illness or conduct, and refunds required by law.

Illness, visa refusal, flight disruption, personal travel disruption and voluntary withdrawal follow the same schedule unless the company agrees otherwise in writing or mandatory law requires otherwise. Early departure for illness or conduct is settled under the Participation Agreement, including the unperformed services. If The Jade Banyan Society cancels the programme, programme fees paid are refunded in full; airfare, visa costs, independent travel, outside accommodation, consequential losses and other third-party costs are not automatically included.

Individual activities may be modified, rescheduled or substituted because of weather, safety conditions, participant eligibility, provider availability or operational conditions. This does not by itself create an activity-specific refund.
